Raise your hands if you feel like you’ve seen enough police brutality videos over the past couple weeks to leave you queasier than the first time you watched the dog mauling scene in Django Unchained. I have to admit that I had to turn my head away when I saw that scene in the theater […]
Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist
I’m sure most of you are expecting me to use this week’s column to speak to the Black Lives Matter protests that have ignited this nation in the wake of the tragic murder of George Floyd by four Minneapolis police officers. I am sorry to disappoint you, but I just don’t have it in me. […]
Mailing It In
Mailing It In- The Saga of the 2020 Election I’ve said this before, but I love two-parters. I aways appreciate the heightened tension provided by these weekly installments, such as when we left off not knowing who had shot Mr. Burns only to discover the following week that it was the baby, Maggie. Dickens, like […]
What’s the Worst that Could Happen?
Wow! A whole hell of a lot has happened since 2016 when I prematurely announced the demise of the Trump bid for presidency. In fairness, I did not think any self-respecting woman could cast a vote for a committed narcissist who openly bragged of grabbing unsuspecting women by the genitalia (which, I have been told, […]
Transgender Transitions
Transgender Transitions This may be an odd way to begin a column on transgender identification and its societal ramifications, but when I began to ponder this topic, Cat Stevens’s song, “Father and Son”, which I may or may not have sung as a duet with one Andrew Clark in front of a not yet sufficiently […]
Another Day, Another Shooting
Another Day, Another Shooting by Steven A. Craig Lost amidst the expansive sea of corona virus news has been a host of silver linings that are right there in front of us, if we only stop to look. I’ve Got the Fever
I have no idea what the world will look like when the doors to society magically reopen, and we all emerge from our corona-inspired hibernation, like sleepy bears looking for honey, porridge, and ale, but I hope we do not lose sight of the opportunity that stands before us. Perhaps, just perhaps, this whole circumstance will serve as a much-needed gut punch to our collective consciousness that the very technology that was developed to bring us all together has actually been serving to alienate us further and further from real connection.
The LeBron/MJ Debate Is Over
The Lebron/MJ Debate Is Over For years now, my friend Chris and I have had a running debate over who is the greatest basketball player of all time. Now, Chris is one of my favorite people on this Earth and he is one of the brightest computer minds I know (in fact, he designed my […]
It May Not be Fake News, But It Sure Is Stupid
It Might Not Be Fake News, But It Sure Is Stupid I’m just old enough to remember the days of Walter Cronkite serving as the anchorman of the CBS Evening News. His nightly sign off wasn’t sexy and stylish, but it was effective. After each program, he would simply say, “And that’s the way it […]
You Wanna Bet?
You Wanna Bet??? Good morning, Las Vegas. How are you feeling today, you know, after that gut punch you got earlier this week from the US Supreme Court? It can’t be easy knowing that you now have to share the gambling spotlight with New Jersey and every other state that would like to legalize sports […]
